The Downside to Knitting In Summer

You might think it’s the possibility of sand in your projects. Or maybe overheating while knitting something. No, for me the downside to knitting during the summer is that I have to choose am I going to swim with everyone or am I going to sit poolside and knit?

To knit or not to knit

Sometimes this isn’t even a question (obviously I will sit poolside and knit!), but other days it’s an absolute quandary. I love swimming. In fact, one of the best things about living in Florida is that you can swim 9 months out of the year WITHOUT needing a heated pool. I’m sure there were times when I was younger my parents were convinced that I was growing gills.

I’m so close to being done with this shawl, though! Only 28 rows to go! (And that includes the bind off, even!) So I will bring my knitting (shocker!) and knit in the car. And once I’m completely waterlogged I will dry off and knit poolside. Because if there’s anything you should have this July 4th weekend, it’s the freedom to do what you want!
